Earbud issues

Whenever i plug in my earbuds to my phone the volume control
Does not work, mp3s start playing by themselves, and voice control
Comes up by itself. Is anyone else having this problem and is there
A fix? Please help!! Running os 5.1.1

How long has this issue been taking place.... what was the last thing you recall doing w/ your iPhone (installed programs) before it began?

I had installed a few apps but have since deleted them to no avail.

Only thing I can suggest before actually restoring the phone.... perform a Hard Reset. Hold the Home and Lock buttons together for approximately 10-15 seconds. Disregard the "Slide to Power Off".... the screen will go black... then the Apple logo will appear. Release the Home & Lock buttons at that time.
