Dan FitzGerald and Lisa Bromiel’s Dog Sled Saga is a really unusual and very charming game that is based around running a dogsledding team. It began as a Kickstarter project that was quickly funded back in 2013, was very well received on Steam Early Access, and has now arrived on iOS.
You take on the role of a rookie musher, running a dogsledding team and growing the dogs’ skills by looking after them and training them. Each dog on your team has unique traits that you must develop to progress on the trails of Mount St. Something. It’s up to you to budget monthly expenses for the league, hire and fire dogs, use your mushing fame to earn sponsorship, hire employees, and even breed puppies.
The dogsledding action is pick-up-and-play; if your dogs start to feel hungry, they’ll slow down, so you have to throw food (which is limited in supply) to them to make them speed up again. You’ll also have to avoid hazards on the track.
I really love the old-school look and feel of this game!
- Here are some of the game’s key features:
- Pick-up-and-play arcade mushing simulation
- Rich team management with ever-increasing monthly expense system for dedicated players to uncover
