9to5 Mac today posts a picture of what is said to be the front and back of an iPhone 5, and asks if the thin slot at the bottom could be the first sighting of the new smaller dock connector. As 9to5 Mac notes, it seems to be pretty much universally accepted, short of a confirmation by Apple, that the next iPhone will have a much smaller dock connector. The only question is, just how small? Reports across the Web have differed, with TechCrunch going for a 19-pin connector, and iLounge saying it will have only 8 pins. Both sites’ sources are usually good, so it’s hard to know what to think when two such reliable sources have conflicting information. Today, though, 9to5 Mac says that it has found reference in the iOS 6 beta to new iOS hardware called a “9Pin”. 9to5 Mac is guessing that this could be referring to a 9-inch dock connector, and they could well be right.

"...this could be referring to a 9-inch dock connector..."

This very well may be one huge phone!
