Computer Interference?

My new Iphone does receive calls if it's sitting on the desk next to my computer?

As soon as i pick it up and walk about 10 feet away I start receiving messages again.

Any ideas?

Could be receiving interference from another radio source. Cell phones are essentially radio transmitter/receivers, so if something is operating on the same frequency as your phone it could prevent it from receiving a signal.
