Apple already has the iPhone with two of China’s carriers, namely China Unicom and China Telecom, but the biggest prize of all, the world’s largest carrier, China Mobile, has remained elusive until now. Whether it was Apple’s or China Mobile’s choice for the company to be iPhone-less until now, AppleInsider writes today that according to China Mobile’s chairman, Xi Guohua, China Mobile is currently “actively talking to Apple” about the two companies working together. “I can’t give you too many details, but I’d like to repeat that both sides do hope to boost our cooperation,” he told shareholders in answer to questions about when the iPhone would be available on China Mobile, which currently has 667 million subscribers that Apple would doubtless be very pleased to have access to. AppleInsider notes that although China Mobile does not yet carry the iPhone officially, it already has more than 15 million iPhone users on its network.
