Ring launches new Floodlight Cam.JPG

With its Video Doorbell product range already a huge success, Ring is now branching out into other ways to increase the ring of security around your home, including its latest product, the Floodlight Cam, which it announced today.

Ring says that its Floodlight Cam is “the world’s first and only motion-activated HD security camera with built-in floodlights, two-way audio and a siren alarm.”

One big advantage that the Floodlight Cam has over regular security floodlights is that you need to be home to notice when they turn on, or even when home, you need to be in the right position to be able to see them. But with the Floodlight Cam, you don’t even have to be home to be able to take action to defend your property.

The device has a wide-angle lens that shoots 1080 HD footage, and also has a built-in speaker and microphone to enable you to speak to the person that has triggered the floodlight via your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

As soon as the Floodlight Cam’s ultra-wide 270-degree-field-of-view sensors detect motion the 3K lumens LEDs will turn on, or they can be manually controlled with the free Ring app. As an added deterrent, Floodlight Cam has the loudest speaker of any outdoor security camera, with a built-in 110 decibel siren alarm.

The two-tier detection system has facial as well as object detection, and fully customizable motion zones.

When motion is detected you’ll be instantly alerted on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, and the camera will immediately begin to record, with footage saved to the cloud. You can then watch the live feed and speak via the microphone if you want. If you see something worrying, you can use the app to flash the lights, sound the alarm, or immediately share the video with neighbours. There’s also infrared night vision.

Ring says that the Floodlight Cam connects to any standard junction box and can be easily installed. They’ll even throw in a free toolkit to help you get started.

The Floodlight Cam is available to pre-order now from Ring.com for ÂŁ229/$249.
