Avoid highways ios maps

Is there anyway to set maps to avoid highway or freeways ? I can't seem to find the option anywhere

Not that I have ever found.

Personally I use Mapquest (https://itunes.apple.com/app/mapquest/id316126557?mt=8) when I need to limit the route by avoiding certain types of roads.
