Along with two brand spanking new iPhones, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple also announced the new 8MP iSight camera that will be featured in these two new flagship phones.

The new camera will have True Tone flash, 1.5u pixels, f/2.2 aperture, and an all new sensor.

The pixel count remains the same as that of the iPhone 5s, but the image quality and pixel micron size have been increased. Another impressive new feature is phase detection autofocus, which is a feature of SLR cameras that is meant to speed up focusing time.

High-definition video has faster frame rates of up to 60 fps for 1080p video, and the slow mo video mode has also been upgraded to 240fps. Other new HD video features include continuous autofocus, cinematic video stabilization and time-lapse video.

Turning to the FaceTime HD camera, Phil Schiller announced that it has an all-new sensor, larger f/2.2 aperture, 81% more light, and HDR video. But possibly the most popular new feature for the FaceTime camera (and the one that was trending worldwide on Twitter as the announcement was made!) is the “Burst Selfie” mode, which will enable you to take a whole stream of selfies and then pick the best one.

As far as extra camera features for the iPhone 6 Plus are concerned, the larger phone will exclusively have optical image stabilization, which Apple says compensates for hand shake in low light, and works in tandem with iOS 8 to reduce subject motion.
