Les Moonves, the CEO of CBS recently shared that Apple is still working to create their own streaming subscription based Apple TV service. He confirmed earlier speculation that Apple intended to launch the service with their 4th generation Apple TV product; however, because they couldn't nail down licensing agreements with the major networks, they are still in the negotiation phase. They still plan to bring the service to market some time in 2016. Here's a quote from Moonves,

“Apple is having conversations with everyone about doing their own streaming services. We have had those conversations, as have the other networks. Do I think something will happen? Probably, but I do not know when.”

As you can see, even though he basically confirmed what the industry suspected, we are still light on actual details for a future Apple TV subscription service. The only industry intel which offers up any additional detail suggests that Apple will likely offer the service with about 25-30 channels for around $40 per month. Apple may also be pursuing adding their own unique content to the service in order to compete directly with Netflix and others. We will keep you apprised as more details develop.
