According to 9to5Mac publication, Apple is planning to begin offering in-store display replacements and other repairs for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. Sources with knowledge of the upcoming initiative say that a display replacement will cost $149 for for users not subscribed to AppleCare+, and $79 for those that are using Apple’s warranty service.

Besides replacing displays, Apple will also replace volume buttons, sleep/wake buttons, vibrating motors, the rear camera and speakers systems. 9to5Mac says the following:

Sources say that the replacement parts, new iPhone screen calibration machines, and training manuals for conducting these repairs have begun arriving at some Apple Stores, so it seems likely that Apple will boot up the new in-store repair programs in the near-future.

I guess we won’t see such an initiative for the iPads any time soon, given their extremely difficult repair process.
