Apple has taken the unusual step of releasing iOS beta 5 to developers on a weekend, as 9to5 Mac reports. The update was available as an OTA update, the second beta update to have this facility enabled, and installers were instructed by Apple to first “erase all content and settings in your device” in order to install the Beta, although 9to5 Mac says that it believes the hard reset is optional, for those who aren’t too keen on the idea! MacStories also reports that Apple warns against people who are not a part of Apple’s Developer Program from “attempting to install this version of iOS in an unauthorised manner.” There’s not too much else to get excited about in terms of new features in this latest beta, to be honest, aside from the fact that we probably only have maybe two or three betas left before the full version of iOS 5 is released. Indeed, 9to5 Mac says it believes that iOS 5 Beta 6 will be released on August 17, although that could be subject to change if bugs or any other problems are found.
