According to a new report from the Financial Times, via MacRumors, Apple is planning to relocate its original content division to Culver Studios, the iconic Hollywood studio where films such as Gone With the Wind and The Matrix were made.

The Culver Studios was built by Thomas Ince, and was previously owned by RKO, Howard Hughes, and Cecil B DeMille. The studio is close to Sony Pictures’ Culver City studio lot, and also Apple Beats’ offices.

Aside from hoping to move into this legendary base, Apple is also said to be looking to snap up a “high-profile drama” starring Jennifer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon that is set on a morning TV chat show. Apple is apparently bidding against the likes of Netflix and other studios in an effort to obtain rights to the drama.

Recently, Apple was reported to have earmarked $1 billion for acquisition and production of original television content over the next 12 months in order to compete with Netflix and Amazon.
