Lol. We are just ragging because we expected more from apple. Especially people like me who bought there 4S 64 gig white for cash :-(

What I find funny is both of you can be technically correct. But the reality is for every 1 bad battery produced there are probably around 50K users with a bad iOS 5 bug.

Haha true. Every morning when I wake up first thing I do is check pulse new for any updates for ios. Lol. But this battery problem is really weird. I have 97% now and have 35minutes of usage 1 hour and 10minutes stand by. Not to bad yeah?
But other days different. That why I am over this thread lol. Let's just wait for ios 5.0.2. Then well start another thread.

$29.99, please.

Some rumors floating around the 5.0.2 has memory leakage issues and is why it's not being let out for testing. They say this may take some more time to fix so possibly a 5.0.3 release will happen later.

BTW, I am fine with my battery life now. 6-9 hours usage, 24+ hours standby is good for me.

I am starting to think that German site made the whole "5.0.2" release up. Figure they were trying to sound "in the know" by guessing a date. But since they are German, they didn't know about Thanksgiving week being a four day holiday weekend for Apple. And now they are simply back peddling to save face.

Probrably right.

On another note, If you turn off Siri or turn off Raise to Speak then reboot, the infrared sensor turns off and acts like it should. Once you toggle Raise to Speak on then off, however, it stays on until you reboot. Still a bug.

its not the battery s fault as far as the rumors go . your usage is decent sometime s i get the same as you sometimes double

2-4 minutes of use per 1% drop is normal. I would restore your phone as new and add back your apps, etc and see if it helps.

Be careful turning Siri all the way off as 'she' learns common things you ask - need - and turning her off clears all those 'cookies'- type data from Apple's servers. If you can turn off the infrared sensor by turning off Raise To Speak and then reboot - that's a way better option.

Good point. My wife is already jealous. Last time I asked her a question she said 'why don't you ask Siri'. I laughed and said well at least Siri doesn't talk back.

No. It's not really normal. All people with 4s are having moderate to very compromised battery life issues. Normal battery life would be closer to 2 days with no charge necessary and moderate usage. That's what the iPhone 4 gets us.

What's still a bit of a stumper to me - someone remind me how this could be -- if it's all a software issue - how come people with iPhone 4 on iOS 5.0.1 aren't having battery issues?

Yeah, me thinks the higher clock speed of the gpu and the dual core are not idling as well as the 4. I think during usage you can not expect the 4S to be as efficient as the 4 again with it's dual core and more power hungry gpu.

Agreed, it does make me think/worry this 2-4% drain per min of use is the best its going to get, these rumours about the 5.0.2 providing substantial battery gains etc appear to be just that.... rumours. i hope i am wrong but i would not be at all surprised if this was as good as it gets for the 4s. remember the whole atenna problem on the 4 and we all hoped it was going to be a software fix, nothing arrived, but the phone still soled in record numbers. I would not be surprised if the same happened here, we just hear nothing more from apple, no more battery fixes planned or announced. i guess if we think logically, Apple has been working on the 4s and ios5 for well over a year, for them to miss something really obvious that will suddenly save loads of battery, does sound a little far fetched !. i hope i am wrong, but i really can't see any gains coming to us with the 2-4% drop :(

i guess you guys have seen this review ?

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4971/apple-iphone-4s-review-att-verizon/15

the actual power consumption measurements confirm the dual core does pull more current when performing certain tasks, but they offer that this could intact be offset by the fact that the tasks would be performed in less time... swings and roundabouts i guess. Overall they seem to give the impression the 4s should not be vastly different from the 4 in normal use, which unfortunately does not seem the case.

I have got a brand new iPhone 4S.

Can someone please tell me if this is a good battery or not?

I'm in uk. On vodafone. I haven't got location or wifi or blue tooth enabled.

I've barely used the phone today. It was fully charged this morning and now at 2030 there is only 20% left (as I'm writing this).

I've not used siri at all, nor have I played any music.

I used FB for five mins and the calculator for 5 mins.

I have had one email that I have received, sent a hand full of txts and made one 40 min phone call.

All apps are closed and phone been on silent (no vibration) and on standby.

Personally I wouldn't expect a phone as expensive as this to be virtually flat at the end of a day of minimal use.

When I do use it I need to charge it 2 times a day. My crack berry in contrast lasts for a few days between charge and I use that more.

Do I have a knackered battery or is this typical?

That is really bad buddy. Have you tried a restore and set up has a new iPhone ?
