Apple is working hard to improve its Apple Maps service so that it could compete better with the leader Google Maps. The company has been granted a patent that was filed back in October 2013 which is said to provide users with more human-like directions to places while in navigation.

Thus, instead of telling you to “head north,” the new service might say things like “Exit the parking lot near Walmart, and turn right towards Golden Avenue.” It could also say things like “Your destination is the apartment building with the fountain up front,” among others.

For this new feature, Apple could consider using crowd-based information to evaluate how effective this service will prove to be for users. Thus, Apple’s new patent would make Siri’s turn-by-turn directions sound more like they’re coming from a real human.
