I've also noticed better reception on 4S vs. 4. I drive through a short tunnel nearly daily and 4 used to drop my calls without fail through the tunnel. With 4S, there's no problem holding the call.
No other conditions -- such as my carrier -- have changed. I use AT&T because I frequently travel abroad and need GSM.
