unlocked iphone 3g

i bought a unlocked iphone 3g last year, now got new iphone 4s. reset old iphone to clear it all out as was giving it to my daughter.... now all its has is the apple icon on screen and wont even connect to itunes Help !!! whats
wrong with it, it turns on and off but nothing else.... can anyone help me with a solution please

did you ever attempt to jailbreak the device? if not then try putting the device into dfu mode then restore in itunes. iClarified - iPhone - How to Put an iPhone Into DFU Mode

thanks for this , eventually managed to do it... now need to get it unlocked as it was 03 but now want to use vodafone
