so i lay my new i phone on the counter...and its gone! Wish somebody would make a little la bomba contained in an i phone case. when someone swipped and pocketed it one could set it off for a little rough and instant justice.

Did you have Find My iPhone turned on? If so it would let you track the phone's position if the thief turns it on long enough for it to connect to the Internet. If your phone is on iOS 7 it also prevents the thief from turning off Find My iPhone or erasing the phone for his own use.

I would agree with scifan, if you had find my iPhone, especially with iOS 7 it is not easy for the thief to disable the feature and makes it easy for you to track and possibly pass information to police.

Welcome to the site. If you can't retrieve your phone, hope you are able to obtain a replacement soon. If you're like me, you can't live without your phone!

Hope you had it insured! I'm with Verizon and have my iPhone insured so that if it gets stolen, lost, or damage I can get it replaced. If I remember correctly I'd only have to pay a $75 deductible which is better than having to pay the full price for a new phone!

I don't take out specialist insurance for my phones but i am covered on my home insurance for loss or theft of personal possessions so its worth checking to see if you're covered in that way.
