Synching & inviting on calender

I have updated my iPhone 4 to the iOS 5, can someone tell me how to wirelessly sync to ITunes and how to invite someone else that has an iPhone to a calendar entry ie. let my wife enter events that I have added to my calendar into her calendar.

I use iCloud for my email address and I just have to create a event in calendars and add whoever I want to invite.

Can I use this feature without using iCloud for my email and how do u get to this page. My calendar entry page does not have invite as an entry
