Rumored iPhone 5S Fingerprint Sensor May Be Built Into The Display

Many rumors have been flying around regarding Apple's next-generation iPhone, the iPhone 5S. So far we've been hearing that it will be mostly a hardware upgrade, packaged with iOS 7, and also may feature a fingerprint sensor. Apple has always been keen on adding a killer feature in the "S" generation devices, so a fingerprint scanner isn't outlandish, especially since the tech giant acquired fingerprint sensor-company Authentec last year.

A new Apple patent shows a fingerprint sensor technology built into the screen. Fingerprint scanning could further advance point of sale at retailers and other locations. The technology would work hand-in-hand with the rumored NFC being added to the 5S. The user would simply place his or her finger onto the iPhone 5S display to confirm a payment.

So far there has been plenty of rumors and speculation, although nobody knows for sure what Apple's next step will be. The iPhone 5S will most likely take on the iPhone 5's design, as has been proved with previous releases by Apple.
