Apple could be facing more supply issues for iPhone 7 plus due to RAM certification problems.JPG

According to a new report on WCCF Tech, based on news coming out of Hong Kong today, it’s possible that the iPhone 7 will be facing more supply issues than first thought due to problems with one of Apple’s major RAM suppliers, SK Hynix. The original report, on DRAMeXchange, said that SK Hynix has failed to meet Apple’s certification requirements, which has meant that Apple has had to try and find other manufacturing partners, such as Samsung and Micron, to help make up the shortfall.

The source says that this type of supply issue is hard to solve quickly, and could last until Q1 2017. Apparently Micron will get a big chunk of the order for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus RAM, with Samsung already contracted to supply almost half of the orders. In order to keep up with this demand, Samsung has expanded its production capacity to 80,000 units, based on 20nm.
