Pokémon fans of ages ages are patiently waiting for the release of Pokémon GO for iOS and Android devices. The geolocation-based game is set to launch here in the United States later in the fall, while some folks who signed up to beta test GO are receiving codes as of today.

The Pokémon GO beta allows players to travel in the real world, catch over 100 different Pokémon, attend Gym battles, and duke it out with other players. Passing by a location where a Pokémon is located, the player will receive a push notification alerting him or her that a monster is nearby. The player can then choose to enter a battle and choose to capture the Pocket Monster.

“By using their own Pokémon’s attacks and dodging incoming attacks by swiping left and right on the screen, Pokémon GO players can defeat the defending Pokémon to reduce the Gym’s Prestige,“ says The Pokémon Company.

Players can also choose to team up and participate in Gym battles, located at milestones, monuments, public art installations and more around the world.

Later in the fall, The Pokémon Company will release the wrist-worn Pokémon GO Plus gadget. The gadget will flash LED light and have haptic feedback to alert players when a Pokémon is nearby.

I managed to sign up for the beta when it was announced but have yet to receive an e-mail. Anyone else get theirs?
