png files not working in theme

So I have downloaded an iPhone 4 theme and wanted to change a couple of icons and what not. So I moved the theme over to my computer and went in to look at the png files but when I open them up I either get nothing or just a messed up images. I don't know why this is happening so if anyone can help me that would be much appreciated.

Should be able to use file to fix this
