Phone vs. text or email

I have no land line so leave phone on 24/7. Want to hear it if it rings during night. But don't want to hear tones on text or emails. Is there a way to leave ringer on but put text or email in vibrate. I can do this with Blackberry.

You can do it with Android as well. But unless you jailbreak your iPhone, you can not do it.

I do it all the time, just go into sounds and set the sounds to none for the things you don't want to hear. Not as easy as Blackberry or Android, but it works and after a while you get used to doing it and it is really not that big a deal.
