Orlando, FL.
Yahoo! News recently posted a photo they said was allegedly taken by an iPhone 5, with its 8 megapixel camera, and they said they were able to determine where it was taken. Here's the quote:

GPS info fits the bill as well. A little digging reveals the photo was taken at 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino, CA -- none other than Apple headquarters.

So I want to know how someone can tell where a photo is taken (if taken by an iPhone) just by looking at the photo?!

the iphone when it takes a picture includes the location(latitude/longitude) in the meta data of that photo.

you cant get the info by just looking at the image. You would either need to look at the photo details on the phone or from a computer.

Could you find it via WinSCP?

yeah. Use winscp then copy the image to your computer. Once the image is on your desktop or wherever you saved it to right click on the image choose "Properties". Then under the "Details" tab scroll down until you see "GPS" that will give you the lattitude and longitude for that image.

the camera photos are stored in " /private/var/mobile/Media/DCIM/100APPLE "
