Hello for Japan, questions about compatability

Hello all,

I am stationed in japan and I have an Iphone4. I will be going home to the states for leave from time to time and I would like to be able to just use my phone there too. is there a way to do this without crazy roaming charges from softbank?

I own the iphone 4, and ipad, and an ipod classic.

Do you have an unlocked iPhone 4? If so all you have to do is get a prepaid ATT or Tmobile simcard and pit it in your phone.

No... Jailbreaking allows you to customize the look of your iPhone's interface where Unlocking allows you to use your iPhone on any GSM carrier.
