I had to change my email account password bec. of spam and it worked fine on my MAC but my iPhone will not send emails even though I changed the password in its settings. Also i upgraded to IOS 8 on the same day. Any thoughts would be be most welcome!
Can't send emails but I get them.

Try deleting the account, then add it back, using your new password when setting it up.
