Apple recently published a very detailed piece dedicated solely to the topic of iOS security. Scanning the document, you can read about diverse encryption techniques, data protection features and general data about the implementation of security protocols into the architecture of the iOS. The document is 20-pages long and is entitled iOS Security and can be currently downloaded from the companys official website. The document dates from May 2012, and is aimed at organizations and individuals in an attempt to make them understand how the built-in security features work together to provide a secure mobile computing platform.
Of course, most of the features discussed in this newly appeared document have already been figured out by researchers who used reverse engineering techniques to get their answers, but the pages do cover one interesting topic multiple security layers within each iOS device (iPhone, iPad):
The combination of required code signing, sandboxing and entitlements in apps provides solid protection against viruses, malware and other exploits that compromise the security of other platforms.
Overall the guide is noticeably aimed at the business sector. Such a strategy seems to make sense, since Apple is preparing to launch its new webpage entirely dedicated to the business.
