We've seen recently plenty of fresh reports which suggest that Apple is working on seriously improving its mapping application. Bow a fresh report seems to suggest that Apple could go as far as making its service available cross-platform through a web interface.

According to a job listing first noted by Benedict Evans on Apple's website, it seems that the company is seeking a "Maps JavaScript Engineer" who could " help make maps work seamlessly on the web." The hint is pretty obvious and indicates that Apple could introduce a Web-based Maps service for users apart from those who are already on iOS or OS X. Here's how the job summary sounds like, and what's curious is that Apple hasn't taken the page down yet:

"The Maps team is looking for a web technology expert to help make maps work seamlessly on the web. The ideal candidate will be a JavaScript expert, have in- depth knowledge of various core web technologies, and be proficient with web developer tools for debugging and performance analysis."

And here's how the description of his job sounds like:

"As a web developer working on Maps, your primary responsibility will be client side web development for maps-related experiences. This role requires a deep knowledge of the JavaScript language, plus a solid understanding of the performance and compatibility issues that arise when delivering a cross-platform web solution. A solid testing background will be a huge asset in this role, whether you have experience writing unit tests, setting up regression test suites, or working in a test-driven development environment."

Is this a mistake on Apple's end or they have intentionally spilled the beans ahead of next week's WWDC? I'll guess we'll just have to wait and see.
