In 2013, Apple continues its feud for domination. At least, in the United States, new information coming from Kantar Wolrdpanel ComTech suggests that the iOS has won the number one place as the most popular operating system in the country. The information applies to the Q4 of 2012 and indicates that Apple’s operating system has gained 51.2% of all US smartphone sales.
Coming in at number 2 is Android, of course, that managed to snatch 44.8% of the customers.

Microsoft managed to climb in at number 3, but its percent is meager compared to the ones of the tech giants’. The company only managed to score 2.6%.
The report explains that 35% of iPhone buyers usually upgrade from older versions of the model, while 30% usually buy the smartphone for the first time. Nevertheless, Android still manages to dominate the world market, as it is spread over countless models of smartphones and has been adopted by important mobile manufacturing companies.

Kantar also released information about the iOS’s status in Japan, where it is apparently also thriving, as two-thirds of the Japanese population has adopted the Apple iconic smartphone. Analyst Mary-Ann Parlato with the Kantar group stated:

"Apple's continual improvement is thanks to both the iPhone 5 and older models attracting various customer groups, from repeat Apple buyers, first-time smartphone buyers. and those coming from other smartphone brands.”
