Movie theaters are becoming a thing of the past, as home theaters are becoming more comfortable and possibly provide a better movie experience. According to Bloomberg, Apple is in talks with Hollywood studios to offer movies that are still in theaters for rent on iTunes, just two weeks after initial release.

Sources say that our favorite fruit company is currently talking to 21st Century Fox, Warner Bros. and Universal. “Some studio executives have been pushing to allow home rentals as early as two weeks after theatrical debuts and are considering a deal with iTunes as one option,” via the report.

According to Bloomberg, these movie rentals won't be your typical $4.99 and $5.99. The report claims theatrical movie would be available to rent for anywhere from $25 to a whopping $50. Not bad if you get a few friends to gather around the TV.

Of course the biggest problem with offering new movie rentals is piracy. There are way too many workarounds for encryption software, Cinevia, etc. and not much to do about it.

We'll just have to see how this pans out.
