iDownload Blog writes that according to Reuters, Apple currently has more than five teams working on wireless charging technologies prior to the launch of the iPhone 8. This follows on from the recently reported news that Apple has joined the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), which is a multinational body that manages the interface standard Qi for wireless charging over a variety of products. Just this move in itself helped to recently spark the rumour that the iPhone 8 would have wireless charging features. And since that rumour first appeared, many other sources have appeared to validate the rumour, so much so that it is looking more and more likely.

Reports have varied as to whether or not it would be just the high-end OLED iPhone 8 that would have the feature, or also the expected iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus refresh. MacOtakara recently said that wireless charging would be an optional feature for the iPhone 8 only, whereas the very credible KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has recently said that all the 2017 iPhone models will have wireless charging.
