Activation Question

The company I work for has a plan through AT&T. I was recently eligible for an upgrade and purchased a new iphone 4 but before activation decided to keep my 3GS. Must I activate the "4" even if I don't intend to use it? Wasn't sure how this would affect my next upgrade date.

I'm pretty sure you don't have to update it.

No you don't have to do anything at all. As long as you have data package on the 3gs you are fine if not they will add the data. You can keep the phone un used and not activated for as long as you wish!
