4s locked - unknown carrier

Hi all,

Just signed up as I have encountered what seems to be an unusual problem.

I have a 64gb iphone 4S in white, I bought this privately and it was still sealed in the plastic packaging.

It has been running my Irish Meteor sim card without fault for over a year. I tried an Irish Vodafone sim in it and it didn't seem to work.

Now I am looking to the iPhone 5 and about to advertise this one for sale.

I contacted Apple directly to see if it was locked and if so, how I go about getting it unlocked to maximise my return on it.

The feedback from Apple was not encouraging, it seems the phone may have originated in Saudi Arabia, they have it listed as Sim Locked with unknown carrier so I have effectively hit a dead end.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The only way for an end user (you and I) to unlock an iPhone 4S is via the Gevey Ultra S sim interposer available from ApplenBerry.com... or for the original wireless provider to unlock it from their service.
