Yeah, I'm going to do a little more reading up, I think I'm missing something here. When I try and use the firmware I downloaded nothing happens, phone remains in DSU mode. I'll sleep on it and read up tomorrow. Thanks for your help tho!

Weird, I plug into tiny umbrella and it does not detect any firmware at all. So when I try and down load let's say 1.1.1 and hit shift + restore and select it will not update... Anyone have any suggestions?

You don't need SHSH in order to restore firmware on the 2G iPhone.

I'm not sure what else to do. I've tried just straight up restoring straight from iTunes (have to put phone into recovery mode because I get no options when it's plugged in) I've tried downloading different firmware versions and hitting shift + restore and nothing happens. Tried different cords, ports, computers. Same outcome, iTunes logo on phone, or it stays on "Waiting for iPhone" during restore process.
