As Apple's September event gets closer, iWatch new is ramping up, even if we aren't fully convinced it's happening this year. According to a post from The Wall Street Journal, Apple's first line of sapphire displays are ready to be shipped off for assembly at the end of August.

Although the iWatch is mentioned in a larger post about Apple's sapphire production, we think it's worth noting since there seems to be a 50/50 chance of the device releasing this year.

Apple previously spent about $700 million, opening up a sapphire production plant in Mesa, Arizona with GT Advanced Technologies. According to sources, Apple's Mesa plant can produce twice the amount of sapphire displays as about 100 manufacturing plants worldwide.

Our favorite fruit company may or may not unveil the iWatch next month, if not, we might have to wait until early next year. The iWatch is rumored to make use of iOS 8's HealthKit, tracking things like steps, calories, and other health-related information, using advanced sensors.
