I am new to dual eSims. I have two eSims on this phone. One is Tracfone using Verizon towers, the other is a French provider using AT&T towers. Right now in the US, I can make and receive call on both lines.

A few days ago, someone told me that they couldn't leave a voicemail on my US line because the mailbox was full. When I looked at Voicemail on my phone, it only showed a couple of old messages from last year that were from French friends, presumably who called my French number.

When I called my US line, the message that the mailbox was full was too fast to hit * or # and it disconnected. When I held down the 1 button on the dialpad, I was able to get to voicemail. It said I had 25 or so messages. I was then able to listen and delete them, one by one. These were all messages that would have been sent to my US number. When I dial the US number now, I can leave a new voicemail. But it doesn't show up on the phone as a voicemail received. When I dial my French line and leave a voicemail, it does show up in voicemails on the phone.

I have just tried turning off the French line on my phone. Now when someone calls my US number and leaves a voicemail, it shows up on my phone. It is even transcribed to text. All good. But I don't want to keep my French line turned off.

I don't think dual eSims are supposed to work this way but can't find any solutions by online searches. So here I am.

I just found this bad news on a Verizon forum:

"We certainly understand the importance of being able to access your voicemails quickly. Visual Voicemail only works on the mobile number that is selected as the primary cellular data line. The non-data line can receive voicemail but does not receive a missed call notification or voicemail alert. We hope this helps to address your concern."

I could live without the text version of a voicemail, but not even getting a missed call notification or voicemail alert is a major problem.

I would suggest getting a Google voice number. I've been using one for years and then you can set up that line to receive voicemails notifications. Forward it to your phone. With Google voice, you can set it up to receive email, transcripts or text transcripts or you can also use the Google voice app. It also comes in handy when you want to give that number to someone.. I've used GV over 30 years

Thanks, Bk. But I really want to keep my existing accounts and get them to work properly with voicemail.

Consider this to be from the Duke (that's Duke Snider, of course)
