With there already being so much speculation about the next iPhone on the Net, AppleInsider reports on some rather intriguing thoughts on the matter from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who says that following Apple’s previous acquisition of AuthenTec, he thinks that Apple will integrate a fingerprint sensor into the iPhone 5S home button, in order to keep the minimalist design. As AppleInsider notes, other smartphones, such as Android and Windows phones, have several buttons at the bottom of the screen, so if they tried to integrate fingerprint scanning, it would not be as intuitive as it would be on the iPhone’s home button. Kuo says that he thinks that the fingerprint sensor would be used instead of usernames and passwords, so that the user could “sign in” to their device and apps very easily, with a simple touch of the finger. Kuo also says that the fingerprint scanner could integrate very well with apps such as Passbook. And if all this is sounding a little too advanced for a phone that could be released in a mere couple of months, AppleInsider points out that Kuo has a very good track record when it comes to predicting future Apple products, having been spot on with Apple’s fall lineup, accurately stating that the iPhone 5 would be taller, for example.
