It is steep but I bought my iPhone 17 Air outright and it was like $1200 or so IIRC. For essentially 3 screens, $2k is not too bad.
I carry around a laptop with me everywhere I go, since I'm on call 24x7. I have 2 laptops, a really nice Macbook Pro 16" M1 Max and a Macbook Air 15" M4. Depending on how much work I'm doing and where I go I change the laptop I bring... The M1 Max was >$5k so I'm afraid to bring it on all trips, so I bring the cheapy with me.
Most of the work that I do is in the terminal though, so really any dumb terminal will work for 99% of what I do. I'm thinking with that screen size and a bluetooth keyboard, that's all I'll have to carry.
I saw the lease pricing wasn't too bad, but I don't know what happens after the lease is up. I need to do more research into that...
It's definitely getting up there... I don't use my camera that much so for me the display is really the selling point.

The display did look fantastic. I am sure you will enjoy your Duo when it arrives.
It looks amazing! I think it's one I'd have to play around with before buying it. I'm leaning towards just the 18 Pro Max and new iPad for about the same price
I've purchased a few iPad's in the past and I never end up using them... but the phone, I can't live without that!

We will have to see what the old lady wants to do. She’s currently using my old 13 to see whether she can live with iOS. Seems that so far, the only thing she doesn’t like is the battery life.
Al least in Alberta, there’s no sales tax so the only tax is the federal GST of 5%.

Well as some of you may already know I have a Samsung Fold 8 so I won't be buying it, I do like what Apple did on the 1st gen including magsafe and iP68, crease will always show some but it's not a biggie and the matte layer helps just like my Fold 8 though I want to see the one on Duo

The possibilities are truly endless. I can have NFL on on side and my fantasy team on the other? Hell yeah.
I can already see a battleship game with the Duo folded.
The camera is the biggest loss, but I think the main sensor will actually be an improvement to what I have on my 15PM. The ultra wide will be better. It is disappointing to pay that much for a subpar camera, but I can manage around it.
