AppleInsider reports today that according to Concord Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will start production of the GSM-based white iPhone 4 this month. Kuo says that Apple has made changes to the film material used in the production process in order to solve the full-lamination issue that was behind the white iPhone 4 delays. The fact that Apple has solved its white paint problems was borne out by the announcement at the iPad 2 launch that the white version of the upgraded device would launch at the same time as the black version, on Friday March 11. Kuo was not able to give any idea of when the white CDMA iPhone 4 might be released.
Kuo also makes a general prediction, that following on from the introduction of Verizons CDMA iPhone, the launch of iOS 4.3 today, and the forthcoming white iPhone 4 in April, Apple could well sell a record-breaking 18 million iPhones in the first quarter of 2011, beating the 16.2 million iPhones sold by Apple in the holiday sales period at the end of 2010.
