Hi, I have an iPhone running iOS 5 because I don't have a wifi. Anyway in my email app, I got this weird message supposedly from facebook (I say supposedly because I get tons of spam messages from scammers not from facebook in my spam folder). But this one does look like it is from facebook, it got my friends name right, and it got my right email address.

Anyway it said some mutual friend tagged me in a status, I don't know this guy, so I searched my friends list of friends and I couldn't find him in the list.

I would right it off as a scam message not from facebook, except when I went into my facebook app it said you have "pending posts" not in the notification icon, but below. Any idea what happened?

I also checked my activity feed, and it said no one had tagged me this month by the way.

Also, if the email was not from facebook could it have infected my outdated ios 5 when I opened it?

That could be a spam that you have clicked.
I am not sure if it is, because it got all of my info right. I did not follow any links tho. Am I okay? Assuming it is from facebook, how exactly can someone else tag you in their status?

Can you get infected if you simply open an email on your iPhone? By the way, I am running an outdated iOS 5 because I don't have a wifi connection. Are there any security risks because I am running iOS 5?

Yes as soon as you connect through spam it is affected. I would give Fb a new password. I stopped getting emails from FB since all alerts go through the app. Easily solves a spam issue.

But I DID NOT follow any links in the email, would my account still be compromised?
