Weak Coverage Observation

I'm in my deer blind in Butler Co Ky. The cell signal has always been weak up here with 2 or 3 bars on Edge. I used to be able to take a picture and send to my wife or various co-workers with my old LG vu, and my 3GS. Now with 4GS the message times out every time and never sends. I can send text, but no pics will send. I'm aware the file size is prob bigger now with 8mp camera but there is no resolution adjustment that I know of to decrease the file size. Just an observation.

iOS 5 on the 4S does not have the ability to use the Edge network based on every report I have read on the subject. Which means you are limited to calls and SMS only until you are back on a 3G signal.

If you have AT&T you will probably have to get a 3G Microcell. It will amplify the signal and you'll be able to send multimedia messages seamlessly. I had to do this for the area I lived in with poor AT&T service.

Interesting comment! I didn't know that, but good. No point in using a smartphone on an edge network signal anyway, especially when using secure websites.

p3unit - u crack me up. If I want to send a picture, I really don't care if it uses edge, short wave, or morse code, just send my dang picture like it used to .Thanks for all the good info from everyone. At least it was explained why edge NO LONGER works with my new upgraded 4s. FYI - saw 2 today but nothing I wanted to take.

Going to try and send a smaller pic from the deer blind (over edge network) Friday. If That don't work I'll at least call AT&T and ask why an upgrade takes away functionality - We have 4 iPhones and a blackberry and a real big payment to them every month.
