I am using and iPhone 6S, my first cell phone, so may be doing something wrong.

I called my cell phone and left a voice mail. When I went to the voicemail Siri offered to read it, but there was no sound when she did.

Did I forget to do something? And I thought you needed to use a password to hear voice mail although it didn't ask for one.

Thanks for helping a newbie.

I knew it would be something simple I was missing. I had to hold the phone to my ear to hear it!
It was very low, so now I have to figure out volume and speaker so I don't have to do that.

On the Phone app, click on Voicemail. Click on the message. You should see a start msg arrow or carat. Under that it says Audio. Press Audio and then the carat. You will hear the voicemail. If you can’t hear it, click on the volume up button on the left side of the iPhone.
Should you not want to listen on the speaker, just click the carat and hold the iPhone to your ear. You can still raise the volume the same way as above.
