Vodafone upgrades and tarriffs

Hi

I remember the good old days where you could always strike a deal with Vodafone when it came to upgrades..... more allowance (minutes or internet), cheaper monthly rate or discount off handsets. But not for iPhone. Ive been with Vodafone for years and for my upgrade its just gonna be the same as starting a new contract but keeping my old number. What happened to customer loyatly? I understand Apple might set the prices for handsets but surely the network providors have some say in how many minutes etc each priceplan has so should be able to make allowances? Are all UK network providors as tight as Vodafone or is it the same for all of em?

I find o2 to be offering some very good deals, much better then voda
