Earlier this year, Verizon Wireless announced that the network giant would be releasing Voice over LTE on it's network later this year. According to FierceWireless, the company has now moved back its plan to release VoLTE-only phones until 2016.

VoLTE is a new voice service that provides calls over the data network. In addition to using data, the calls become higher-quality, unlike current calls which use a devices radio antenna.

Verizon notes that it will continue its plan to provide VoLTE for current and future CDMA-capable phones starting Q4 2014. As we know from Apple's WWDC keynote, Voice over LTE will be one of the key features in iOS, as well as the next iPhone.
