It's more comfortable to type on a actual keyboard if you really type a lot on the iPhone. Say you writing books, news, blogs, long and many emails, an so on. When you don't have a computer and you know that your iPhone can do all those, typing on the virtual keyboard on the screen can be slow and very tiredful.

I guess. I can see typing on an iPad screen but on a small screen you'll be basically squinting to see the words

My eyes are too bad to try anything like that! I use my MacBook Air for typing! I could see using a Bluetooth keyboard with an iPad though.
