Urgent help needed

Hi guys, i'm having a bit of a nightmare!
My current iphone 2g was jailbroken, but i connected to itunes to restore and now i have nothing at all to get out of the mode it is is (I'm sure it's DFU mode!)

Whenever i connect to itunes all i get is:

"The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported"
"Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the sim card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported carrier's store to recieve a replacement SIM card"

PLEASE HELP?!

More info needed...Are you an AT&T customer? Was the phone "unlocked?"

No the phone was jailbroken as far as i'm aware as it had cydia on it, i'm using O2
