Unwanted Text Notifications

Please excuse my ignorance, but does anyone know how to stop the text notifications popping up on my screen, my gf wants to know who these people are who are texting me? I just wish I could get rid of the blooming notifications..Thank you very much for any help.

Hmm. Sorry, but the text notification still pops up.. Maybe it's my cross to bear in my lovetime.

Go to settings, go to messages, scroll to bottom and "turn off show subject field".
