When a game that’s only been out a couple of days manages to knock Angry Birds off the top of the Paid Apps chart in the UK App Store, and is breathing down its feathered neck at number 3 in the US store, you know it’s time to sit up and take notice, especially when that game comes from a first-time indie app developer called Andreas Illiger. The game is called Tiny Wings, and it’s been getting rave reviews from fans and critics alike all over the Internet. Since its release on February 18, Tiny Wings has earned 649 (at the time of writing) five-star ratings in the US App Store. As with Angry Birds, the appeal of the game lies in its simplicity: a cute little bird with tiny wings dreams of flying, and surfs up and down hills to propel himself into the air, something that his tiny wings can’t do all on their own. The worlds the bird soars through are so bright and colourful, and thanks to the procedural generated graphics the game world that you play in will change everyday. We could well have another fairy-tale success story on our hands from a first-time developer; somewhere, Andreas Illiger is smiling a very big smile! Just like you will be, when you start playing his game!

Great game. Dont think it's going to take over angry birds quite yet...
