Thinking of Jailbreaking but are not sure?

Hello Unleashed, am a newbie to iphone hacks. I just got myself an Iphone 4 factory unlocked running on version 5.1.1 I would like to jailbreak and install nice apps. Kindly guide me on the following questions.

Question 1. How do I jail break my iphone 4 running on v5.1.1.
Question 2. Does my iphone lock after jailbreaking it? Do I need to unlock my iphone after jailbreaking it if yes how?

I read on the forum baseband 4.12.01 is unlock able.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Firstly let me tell you that if it is factory unlocked the jailbreak won't change that do you don't need to rely on unlock or care what version baseband you're on! If jail breaking would lock my factory unlocked phone I would not do it...

Secondly you will need absinthe and I have a tutorial here depending on if you use windows or osx

My firmware is 4.2.1 and There is this other number that is the baseband i think the # is 05.15 or 14 and i cant recall the last one The funny thing about jailbreaking it would be that id use the apps to Make smiley faces and put live wallpapers notice a jailbroken iPhone to a Stock Android not much if you decide to add cydia to your iPhone,Android is dead but then There are apks but iPhone is more stable só we win yay!!

Here are some free tweaks I would suggest right off the bat:
1. SBSettings(a control panel with toggles for many functions)
2. Winterboard(theming platform)
3. Unfold(lockscreen modification that looks like you are folding a curtain)
4. BiteSMS(gives you a quick reply pop-up for SMS messages add repo http://cydia.bitesms.com)

To into settings > FaceTime and make sure it's turned on and if it is already turned on make sure the contacts you select have FaceTime available and if it's still not there it might be worth thinking about restoring

FaceTime is activated via your contacts info page... there isn't a FaceTime "app."

there is an app icon for it, i used used facetime before I jailedbreaked my iphone.

Although I got this message below each time I switched Facetime on '' Your carrier may charge for sms messages used to activate facetime. What does it mean

I have been reading a lot of sites to prepare (including this thread and site) and I just have one general question. Earlier in this thread you recommend using the absinth tool to jailbreak my device (which looks like you do not have to put the phone into DFU mode) but other sites I have seen have recommended redsn0w (with DFU) if you have a lot of media on your phone. I do have a lot of songs and pictures (have prepared a backup already through iTunes) I just want to get this sites opinion as you seem to have a good understanding of this process

thanks, when you used the absinth tool did your phone already have a lot of media on it (songs, pictures, etc)?

That definitely looked easier then the DFU method
