Not at home right now, and you didn't state what your trying to achieve, but i'm just wondering whether or not your computer is recognizing your phone. In other words, after plugging in, on the left hand side- under devices, are both the iPhone name and image present? If so, place computer cursor over this line and right click, this will provide options- hopefully one will suit you.
If, on the other hand, your phone info does not appear, perhaps trying each of your USB ports front and back(IBM desktop?) will help
